Free Hand Ministry Center Vision

Our vision is to assist all Ministry Center guests in achieving independence and an optimum quality of life. It is the desire of all Free Hand Ministry Center staff members to help provide permanent solutions to the challenges facing those in need who come to the Center seeking such solutions.

Our Approach

The severity of life challenges facing "guests" that arrive at the Free Hand Ministry Center for help varies significantly. Some guests require minimal assistance and guidance because they already have stable living environments and a good quality of life. These people are not necessarily seeking increased independence; rather, they typically simply need support and/or guidance in overcoming a momentary challenge in their lives or, may simply desire social outlets in a safe environment.

For others who are more needy and challenged, however, the desire to achieve a quality life style and more independence, the Free Hand Ministry Center "Roads to Independence" offer new hope. The ROADS TO INDEPENDENCE offer specific formulas (or steps) that lead to independent living for all guests who elect to participate in our programs. We refer to these specific "steps to independence" as TRACKS. We feel that we have devised TRACKS that address common life-situations of guests that make their intentions known to the staff at the Free Hand Ministry Center.

For those who desire more independence and quality in their lives, our staff will utilize the entire range of resources available at the Free Hand Ministry Center. (Please refer to the section on this website called "Services Available at the Center" to learn more.) Improvement in life quality and personal/family independence may be attainable for those who participate in the ROADS TO INDEPENDENCE.

Overview

Let's review some of the primary features of the Free Hand Ministry Center ROADS TO INDEPENDENCE.

  • All Ministry Center "guests" are eligible to be placed on a particular TRACK that leads to independence.

  • Many guests who come to the Ministry Center's "Hot Meal Programs" or "Coffee Shop" may already be "independent" and may not need to be placed on one of the "Roads to Independence."

  • Guest progress toward "independence" is measurable.

  • Actions needed to reach the culmination point of any given track may require the services of several ministries - - not just one or two.

  • Guests are encouraged and given the "opportunity" to become part of a specific TRACK and progress to the end of that process - - but each guest must choose whether or not to participate.

  • We realize that not all guests who elect to participate in the ROADS TO INDEPENDENCE will complete the steps/actions necessary to become more independent... that is their choice.

  • The progressive TRACK concept is a "continual improvement" model, which includes actions, results, corrective actions and on-going evaluation. All guests are given the opportunity to evaluate the Free Hand Ministry Center program in light of his/her experience. We utilize this input as part of our continual improvement process.
